02.03.2017. President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov chaired a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work of military and law enforcement agencies during the first two months of this year were summed up.
The leader of nation heard detailed reports of the heads of military, security and law enforcement agencies on the work done over this period, the fulfillment progress of the earlier given instructions on the organization of effective activity ministries and agencies they are in charge of, improvement of their material and technical base, further strengthening of peace and security in the country.
Summarizing the reports of the membership of State Security Council, the President of Turkmenistan stressed the importance of strict compliance with guidelines and instructions, as well as on an integrated approach to military and legal reforms aimed at improving the activities of military, security and law enforcement agencies.
President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov pointed to the need for joint efforts in order to ensure an effective and well-coordinated work of all inter-related military and law enforcement agencies, as well as to further steps to be taken to improve the service and living conditions of military personnel.
Pointing out the necessity to strengthen the fight against the unhealthy habits, the head of state demanded to intensify a wide public awareness-raising work among the population in order to explain the negative effects of narcotic drugs addiction and smoking. Emphasizing the importance of public events in eradicating drug abuse in the country, the head of state drew attention to the importance of teamwork with the relevant agencies in this field, in particular, the systematic awareness-raising activities among young people.
Stressing the importance of the reforms ongoing in the legal sector, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov stressed the need to further amend the national legislation by introducing new laws that meet modern requirements, which shall be developed in close cooperation with the Mejlis, the Government and other relevant agencies.
Emphasizing the exceptional importance of strengthening the defense power of the national army, the Turkmen leader instructed to pay special attention to strengthening and improving the material and technical base of all branches of the Armed Forces of the country, careful maintenance and efficient use of modern technology coming into use for the armed forces, training of highly qualified military personnel, as well as creation of favorable environment for successful performance of duties, welfare and recreation of valiant defenders of the Homeland. In addition, the head of state stressed the importance of responsible approach to the implementation of reforms aimed at improving the activities of military and law enforcement agencies, intensification of patriotic and educational work, and improving the theoretical and combat training of troops.
